The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office’s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.
The required working hours for this position are:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
FUNCTIONS INCLUDE
- Desktop support: Provides daily support for the computing desktop; including operating system, software installation and maintenance and hardware. Responds to assigned tickets. Evaluates, prioritizes, resolves problems and requests or escalates to appropriate support areas. Acts as the front-facing support liaison for all desktop-related support issues. Provides support documentation for Tier 1 Service Desk. Collaborates with higher level technical areas on planning and issue resolution.
- Supports agency security practices by assisting users with secure connectivity tools (Cisco VPN, MFA, wireless), reinforcing acceptable use requirements, and reporting suspected security incidents in accordance with established procedures
- Provides technical guidance and subject matter expertise including documentation for level 2 staff and tier 1 and tier 2 tech support staff.
- Acts as an escalation point for advanced technical issues.
- System administration: maintenance, upgrades, new implementation, consultation and planning system administration activities.
- Attends formal training, conducts self-paced training through online courses or on the job training, attends conferences and engages with peers to maintain broad understanding of technologies and keeping abreast of new technologies.
- Ability to be available for weekend support and on-call rotation for after hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to be LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) certified.
- Two years of experience with computer hardware and software, troubleshooting techniques, and Windows operating systems, and networking concepts.
- One year of experience providing remote software support.
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A valid Illinois Driver’s License, safe driving record and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university.
- Two years of experience with computer hardware and software, troubleshooting techniques and Windows operating systems, and networking concepts.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit for extended time periods.
- Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.
- Ability to travel, mostly within Illinois, including overnight stays, as required.
