Client Advocate Program

OSPS is also proud to work with Partners for Justice on the innovative Client Advocate Program (CAP), which embeds advocates across multiple counties within local public defender offices. OSPS provides funding to cover CAP costs that include personnel and training.

CAP staff work with public defender clients to address pressing needs such as housing, employment, and healthcare, helping to improve court hearing attendance and public safety. CAP staff do not provide legal representation or legal advice.

Client Advocate Program staff are embedded in the public defender offices of the following counties:

  • Adams
  • Champaign
  • Jackson
  • Peoria
  • Sangamon
  • White
  • Williamson
